Ndey Sireng J. Bakurin, executive director at TANGO, The Gambia and former vice president of The Gambia, Dr. Isatou Touray received official certificate of recognition from Peace Gambia for their immense contribution to promoting sustainable peace and justice in The Gambia during the conference.
“Time has change were young people will just accept what an elder says or their parents, but we do listen and everything have to be done in an inclusive and respectful manner because that is what we say about sustainable development. That is also what we want in The Gambia,” said Mrs Bakurin.
“As future leaders you learn from elders in peace and harmony so that you can pass it on to the next generation. There is no shortcut to development,” she also told young people.
Dr. Isatou Touray said Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara was a peaceful negotiator and established peace and harmony among Gambians as well as promoted tolerance and an all-inclusive governance among Gambians.
“Nothing is lost. It takes time to grow and develop and we have to build on what we have,” she added.
