The Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (MOHERST) in collaboration with UNESCO recently amended and validated the reviewed ICT, auto mechanic and air-conditioning repairs and maintenance program on Thursday.

The event held at the National Accreditation and Quality Assurance Authority (NAQAA), brought together stakeholders from the Higher Education Ministry, University of Science Engineering and Technology (USET) and other private institutions to develop standards that teach interested students life skills for employability.

The project which is expected to last for four months is on the edge of accepting applicants for the commencement of the training that will be conducted by Gambian experts on the subject matter.

According to authorities, the objective of the training is to equip young people, most especially girls with TVET and digital skills for improved lifelong learning. The capacity building program will focus on digital literacy and auto mechanic air-conditioning repairs and maintenance.

It has been agreed that TVET helps in equipping individuals with relevant skills and knowledge, hence enabling people to effectively participate in social, economic and technological innovation processes, which are essential for the development of any social structure.
