MoH confirms 48 new Covid-19 cases

The Ministry of Health in its 445th national situation report issued covering 31st July to 4th August 2022, has disclosed that it recorded 48 new Covid-19 cases, making the total Covid-19 confirmed cases in the country 12,197.

It added that it recorded no new Covid-19 related death for the period under review

The ministry also said that the test positively rate is 11.6%, adding that, no case is currently on oxygen therapy while 37 cases were discharged after at least 10 days of monitoring from the day they tested positive but evaded institutional isolation and none from Covid-19 treatment center

Presently in The Gambia, confirmed positive Covid-19 cases are 12,197, 96 active cases, 11,733 recoveries and 368 deaths.

According to the age-sex distribution of confirmed Covid-10 cases in The Gambia, about 59% of the confirmed cases are males while about 58% of the confirmed cases are 40 years below and according to the report, “this excludes the 27 confirmed cases whose demographic information are not yet available. 

In the Ministry’s recommendation, it called for strengthening community-based surveillance in all regions to increase awareness and testing rates, intensify risk communication and community engagement activities on Ciovid-19 at the community level, including at ‘Lumos,’ in a bid to curtail community transmission and dispel misinformation and denial and vaccine hesitancy among others.
