The two-day synergy, convened from 15 to 16 April 2024 at Bakadaji Hotel in Kotu, was aimed at providing participants with knowledge and use of the technical skills associated with performing functional reviews of the Government of The Gambia’s MDAs.
Welcoming the gatheirng, Pateh Jah, Permanent Secretary (PS), at the Ministry of Public Service, Administrative Reforms, Policy Coordination and Delivery on behalf of the Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service, thanked participants for their presence, and explained that the initiative is part of the Minsitry’s mandate especially the Personnel Management Office in particular.
“You are here to equip yourselves with the basic knowledge on Functional Reviews (FR) of MDAs of the Government of The Gambia.” PS Jah explained.
In that regard, PS Jah said the ministry deemed it necessary to get expertise to equip the staff of the Ministry on how to go about Functional Reviews process within Gov’t MDAs.
“Feel free to ask relevant questions and anything that is related to Functional Reviews. Interact with each other to know the basic knowledge of FR of the Government’s MDAs.”
To that end, he commended the Public Administration International (PAI) for their continued support to the Government of The Gambia especially to PMO over the past years.
Sheriff Jallo, director, Civil Service Reforms and Planning Unit under the Ministry of Public Service, Administrative Reforms, Policy Coordination and Delivery, who chaired the official opening ceremony, described the training as ‘laudable and timely.’
During the two-day session, the project team leader/Public Reforms Advisor from Public Administration International (PAI) in UK, Mr. Stephen Catchpole delivered the training, supported by the power point presentations on FR of the architecture of the government MDAs.
