This assurance was delivered during an interactive question-and-answer session held at the Union’s 2023/2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on Saturday at the NACCUG Conference Hall in Bakau. The event was held under the theme: "Save Today, Secure Tomorrow and Build a Healthier Future.”
During the session, general members particularly low-income earners expressed concerns over loan accessibility and called on the Board to explore more flexible options across the Union’s loan products.
Responding to these concerns, Mrs Saine pledged that the Board will give due consideration to all feedback and affirmed MHSCCU’s commitment to serving the best interests of its diverse membership.
She highlighted a wide range of available financial products including consumer loans, electronics loans and school fees loans, all offered at competitive rates. Furthermore, she revealed that the Board had approved plans for the management to introduce new loan categories, namely car loans and building loans, to better support member needs.
On the Board's achievements, Mrs Saine reported the expansion of branch offices to improve accessibility across the country. Notably, a new branch in Jarra Soma was commissioned in 2024, bringing the total number of MHSCCU branches to eight, including the headquarters in Kanifing.
“To support operational growth, MHSCCU has recruited additional personnel including Tellers, Operations Officers, a Loans Officer, a Marketing Officer, an Internal Auditor and an IT Assistant.”
Mrs Saine also disclosed the acquisition of a 20x25 metre plot in Soma intended for future office space and staff accommodation. “In addition, land has been demarcated in Tujereng comprising 30 plots-16 measuring 15x20 metres and 14 measuring 14x20 metres—with a 10 metre-wide access road, aimed at supporting long-term development initiatives.”
The AGM showcased the Union’s continued commitment to empowering its 8,000-strong membership through strategic service delivery and inclusive financial opportunities.
