KMC receives 9 ambulances, fire rescuer trucks

The Kanifing Municipal Council recently receive nine (9) ambulances and a fire rescuer trucks form Ebou Malading Children Charitable Foundation and partners.

He gesture is meant to help Council respond to emergency services in either health or fire within the Municipality.

The ambulances will be distributed to Kanifing General Hospital, Faji Kunda Health Center, Serrekunda Health Center, Bakoteh Health Center, Ebo Town Health Center, Tallinding Health Center, Latrikunda German Health Center and the Mobile Police.

Talib Ahamed Bensouda, Mayor for Kanifing Municipal Council said the country faces challenges of limited resources to effectively respond to emergency situations such as fire, ambulatory and policing security services especially in KM.

He commended the fire and rescue services for doing a great job in trying to combat fires but noted that population growth, poor physical planning, and poor electrical wiring has increased fire incidents and resulted in fire and rescue services struggling to handle the situation.

Kajali Sanneh, Deputy Chief Executive Officer for KMC described the donation as very significant, adding that they would contribute immensely towards helping the country achieve its development goals.

Karamo Ceesay, Councilor of Tallinding South Ward said fire and rescue service always respond to fire outbreaks any time they are called but always face accessibility challenges.

Samba Bah, President for Ebou Malang Children Charity Foundation said they have a monitoring mechanism in place to monitor the utilisation of the donated ambulances and fire rescuer trucks and report back to their donors in six months’ time.

Aidan Gouuory, Project Manager for Emergency Services Aids Charity (ESAC) said the equipment would go a long way in strengthening service delivery of beneficiaries.
