Kerewan Samba Sira boosted with food, medical items

Organisation for the Advancement of Women and Children in The Gambia (OAWCG), last Saturday donated 70 bags of 25kg of rice and medical items to Kerewan Samba Sira village in Lower Fulladu West, Central River Region.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, chairman of the organisation, Haruna Bah explained that the organisation has spent D48, 250 dalasis to purchase the items, noting that the donation is part of their efforts in complementing government efforts in the fight against covid-19.

Mr. Bah called on Gambians to abide by Ministry of Health and WHO recommendations to ensure a quick defeat of covid-19 in The Gambia.

Penda Baldeh and Fanta Jawla both hailed the organisation for its timely support, saying the generosity will go a long way in helping their families.

Penda Baldeh used the opportunity to call other NGOs to emulate OAWCG in providing similar assistance to Gambian communities.

Alkalo Hamidu Saidy warned people of Kerewan and Gambians that the pandemic is real and they must abide by the WHO and Ministry of Health guidelines and regulations.
