The gesture was aimed to support less privileged Gambians during the "Tabaski" to sacrifice rams.
In his remarks, Omar A. B. Njie, country manager for Karpowership Gambia said the gesture is part of the company's social corporate responsibility.
"This is a special occasion, especially for the beneficiaries. Banjulians are our closest neighbors and most of the beneficiaries are from Banjul," he said.
He noted that over the past years, the electrical company has spent over 25 million dalasis on humanitarian services in the area of food stuffs, health, education and social development.
"Karpowership is doing the same thing in other countries where it operates," he said.
Moreover, he assured that the company will continue to support Gambian people in various areas to enhance social development.
Babou Cham, president of Banjul Fishermen Association thanked the benefactor for their support to the needy.
He prayed that Almighty Allah bestow his blessings on the company so that it continues the humanitarian services.
"I prayed that Allah gives this company the strength so that it continues the humanitarian services," he prayed.
H.E. F. Turker Oba, Turkish Ambassador to The Gambia, described the relationship between the two countries as excellent. He said the two nations are working on mutual interest.
He said the gesture will significantly help the needy to execute their sacrifice during the "Tabaski."
Also, he assured that the bilateral and multilateral relationship between the two countries would continue to enhance development within the two nations.
In February 2018, Karpowership signed a contract with the National Water and Electricity Company (Nawec) of The Gambia to generate and deploy power of 36 MW.
The company has since been operating in The Gambia and has been supplying about 60% of Gambia’s total electricity needs.
