In a move designed to provide comfortable and safe transportation to its valued passengers while promoting the spirit of sharing, The Gambia Transport Service Company (GTSC) has commenced Ramadan Iftar distribution to its esteemed passengers.

The items, which include packs of foods, sugar and water, forms an important annual tradition in the bus company’s calendar of events during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Over the years, GTSC has been dedicated to providing a comfortable and safe transportation experience for its vast valued passengers.

Presenting the items, Seedy Kanyi, General Manager, Gambia Transport Service Company (GTSC), expressed delight on behalf of their board of directors and staff to make such a presentation, which he described as a token of appreciation to their esteemed customers.

The move, he said, is a tradition for the bus company to extend this kind of gesture, further underscoring the importance of giving out during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

GM Kanyi thus made reference to the Prophet Muhammed S.A.W, who was quoted as saying ‘if you give something to somebody fasting, there is abundant rewards for the person.’

This, he believes, is purely in line with Islamic principles and so it is not anything new, but that they’re just trying to revive that long tradition.

“At GTSC our tradition is to be doing this year-in and year-out. And today, we are back to witness another day for us to distribute this Ramadan Iftar in the form of food packs and sugar in GTSC-designed packs that would serve as energiser in the next few hours at the time of Iftar.”

He said the launch of the Ramadan Iftar food distribution exercise, which starts at their main depot in Kanifing, will then continue across the country till the end of Ramadan.

GM Kanyi thus thanked their esteemed customers for their continued support.
