GPFCCU holds 25th AGM

The Gambia Police Force Co-operative Credit Union (GPFCCU) recently held its 25th Annual General Meeting at a ceremony held at the Teachers Conference Centre in Brikama.

This year’s event held under on the theme -“Maintaining Resilience through a strong culture of Compliance ”, also saw the presentation of the union financial statement.

The union in the past has made gigantic strides in positively transforming the socio-economic wellbeing of its members by providing them with timely and cost-effective financial services.

Welcoming the gathering, Pa Singhateh, General Manager, The Gambia Police Force Co-operative Credit Union, explained that the union plays a crucial role in the financial wellbeing, economic growth and improvement of its community members.

This year’s theme, he added, is not just a slogan, but a strategic imperative in upholding their core values and code of conduct aimed at fostering open dialogue.

“We can create an organisation that thrives even in the face of challenges. This means proactively implement robust training programs, transparent reporting mechanisms, and clear policies that empower every employee to make ethical choices.”

He added that through this collective effort, they would not only build a resilient organization, but one that commands respect, trust and long terms success.

Marie Wadda, chairperson of GPFCCU, said that the union have registered a branch in Farafenni and Jara Soma.

 “The one in Jara Soma was opened in June 2023, and a piece of land is secured in Farafenni to build an office structure and a temporary office is in Brikama. All this geared to making transaction easier to its members.”

She noted that the union will continue to positively impact the lives of its members by providing new loan portfolios and efficient ways of disbursing them.

Giving a statistic of their loan balance, Wadda maintained that union’s loan balance stood at D250, 403,690 in 2021, while in 2022 it stood at D296, 848,712 showing an increment of 15.6 percent.

Ebrima Bah, a representative of the Inspector General of Police, acknowledged that strong culture of compliance is a foundation for sustainable growth which empowers organisations to strive in the face of adversity, mitigate risked and built values by fostering the culture of integrity, accountability and ethical behaviour.
