At the event, Lamin Dampha, permanent secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Regional Integration, underscored the importance of business in this day and age, saying business is the lifeblood of the country's economy.
To that end, she added that any effort towards strengthening and enhancing it is a move in the right direction.
“Production particularly in agriculture and manufacturing is the life blood of our economy and this government is committed to this. So this forum is a clear manifestation to that. However, critical enablers to this drive such as clean energy and water remains a challenge and government is keen on these and many other areas to explore with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation."
PS Dampha noted that his ministry remains committed to supporting Gambian businesses and thus urged people to explore the vast opportunities government has provided to help indigenous business grow.
Also speaking, Ousainou Sengore, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GIEPA, reminded that facilitating that outreach forum through the Directives of the Office of the President is a manifestation of His Excellency, President Barrow’s wisdom.
“This political commitment is to support Gambian businesses in laying the right environment to network and grow despite very challenging times at the global front. At GiEPA, such initiatives are welcomed and our daily strive has been to facilitate these processes between the right actors and our businesses. Key sectors to be looked into including clean energy, manufacturing, food and beverage, water technology etc, has huge potential to creating economic development.”
Samba Baldeh, a Wisconsin State representative, advised potential beneficiaries to take the forum seriously and assured of them continuous support to lift the country’s economy.
