The Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) on Wednesday engaged Financial Services Providers and other stakeholders within the value chain for a high level breakfast meeting on the Resilience of Organisations for Transformative Smallholder Agriculture (ROOTS) Project financing for producers and Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

The high level dialogue was organised by GCCI as the lead implementing partner of the ROOTS Project for the 4Ps arrangement at Coco Ocean Hotel.

The objective of the meeting was to meet and discuss opportunities available at the ROOTS Project to ensure Small Medium Enterprises have access to Matching Grant at ROOTS Project.

Sarata Conateh, Chief Executive Officer for GCCI said the large turnout of participants from various financial service providers shows their commitment and dedication toward the development of the Agricultural sector.

Lamin S. Darboe, Senior Climate Smart Agricultural Office at the ROOTS Project described the meeting as very important for them.

He pointed out that ROOTS Project is a 6-year project under the Ministry of Agriculture aimed at supporting production and marketing of value change commodities in The Gambia.

He added that the Project would also support small holder farmers in terms of production and productivity of rice and vegetables in rural communities.
