A Gambian digital photography artist is one of the professional artistes selected for the 9th edition of the Exposition Artistiques De Saint-Louis dubbed- The Artistic Routes of Saint-Louis in Senegal.

Mamat Sallah, who is attending the exhibition for the second time, is among 33 participants selected to showcase their craft in the upcoming exhibition and the only artist selected from The Gambia.

Also, Sallah will not only exhibit his work at the exhibition, but serve as one of the Guest Mentors at the event to be held from 6th May to 10th of July 2023.

At the 8th edition of the exhibition, Sallah exhibited two digital photography artworks.

Among other exhibitions he has attended within the sub-region, his works are always unique and standout in the circuit of Digital Photography.

“I have been interacting with different artistes and many Gambian photographers but most of them are more like commercial photographers which are mostly taking pictures at ceremonies and so on.” he added.

On his participation at this year’s event, Sallah said the selection is another great opportunity for him as one of the Guest Mentors to be able to share his work experience with other professional and upcoming artistes together with those that will visit the exhibition gallery.

“However, Digital photography/art is a form of having different pictures reassemble to fit what you want to express or the message you want to pass across to people; it is a new dimension of photography and is more an abstract which has given me space to fit into any fine arts platform.”

The Artistic Routes of Saint-Louis, an annual event by the Ndar Creation Association, will take place at the Senegal Research and Documentation Center (Ex IFAN de Saint-Louis) from the 6th of May to the 10th of July 2023.

NDAR CREATION association is a cultural association created in 2011 in Saint-Louis in the north of Senegal by young visual artists with the mission of not only promoting arts and culture in the northern region, but also in Senegal and the rest of the world.
