Gambia hosts 4th edition of Tambedou Kunda Family Association’s AGM

The Gambia has hosted the 4th edition of Tambedou Kunda Family Association’s International Annual General Meeting this year with over 250 members from Senegal, Mali, Guinea Bissau, The Gambia and the Diaspora in attendance.

The meeting was hosted in Bijilo, from the 23rd to 26th December 2021, under the auspices of the Khalif General of the Tambedou Kunda family in The Gambia and Imam of Bijilo, Abdoukarim Tambedou.

Founded in 2018, the Association aims to foster harmony and development of the Tambedou Kunda family in the sub-region. Its membership is open to every member of the Tambedou dynasty across the globe. Mali, who joined the Association this year, participated in the 4th edition.

The annual meeting provided an open avenue for interaction and communication, promote harmony, dignity and goodwill among members, mobilize resources for the improvement of the individual and collective affairs of the association, to work collectively in activities contributing to sustainable development of the group and to expose the young ones to the history of the Tambedou clan.

Speaking at the opening of the meeting on Friday, Ebrima Tambadou thanked attendees for investing their resources, energy and time toward the family. He added that the annual gathering is aimed at promoting unity, peace, oneness and advancement of the family.

Abdou Khudus Tambadou, president of Tambadou Family in Mali described the initiative as very good, saying he was pleased to be within the midst of his family members. He added that since the commencement of the initiative it has brought together Tambadou family within the sub-region and beyond closer.

Momodou Tambadou, president of Tambadou family in Mali called on family members to support one another as well as share ideas for the growth of the family. He added that with unity they can achieve a lot.

Momodou Lamin Tambadou, vice president of Senegal Tambadou family urged those present to share what was discussed during the meeting with those unable to attend this year’s gathering.

Ebrahim Tambedou, a representative of the Association based in the Diaspora, reminded that strengthening relatives’ ties is next to godliness, saying ‘Allah himself has told mankind that he put them into tribes and ethnic groups so that they will be able to know one another and co-exist.’

The  AGM was characterised by Quaranic recitation, profiling of the association, reports from member countries, history of the Tambedou, idea generation for the growth of the association member-countries and socio-economic development of individual members.
