The presentation held at the Mundun Trading Centre, was part of the fulfilling the teaching Muslim culture of caring and sharing especially in the Holy month of Ramadan.
At the presentation ceremony, Lamin Barrow, chairman of the Forest Users Association of The Gambia, said the gesture is to show solidarity and support members during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
“We all know each and every one of us here has a responsibility in supporting his family without this association, but why we choose this particular period to follow the teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammed SAW and in view of the fact that Ramadan is a month of forgiveness and helping one and another.”
The gesture, Barrow added, would also go a long way in supporting members by sharing the benefits of the association and supporting them during this Holy month.
“Sharing and assisting one and another in the month of Ramadan is important. And I believe the benefit is not going to only the chairman or the executive, but every member of us will benefit the reward in hereafter.”
He spoke at length on the importance of the reward one stands to benefit by caring and sharing with neighbors especially as Muslims, adding that as members they should always be proud of what they are doing as an association.
He thus called on all members to be committed to the development of the association, recalling that since 2010 the association has undertaken series of initiatives geared towards supporting members.
“The association has done a lot in terms of supporting members during funerals, naming ceremonies and other need. We have done it and you all witness are witness to this in every Ramadan at least we spend nothing less than 500,000 dalasi among our members and even the general public.”
