May 29, 2020, 11:57 AM

Thousands of needy families assembled at various distribution centers of Brikamaba and Sinchu Madado in Central River Region’s Lower Fulladu West District to receive what they described as a timely gesture from the Government as covid-19 food support.

In distributing the food coupons to head of families in Kerewan Samba Sira, Alkalo Hamadu Saidy observed that some names and telephone numbers had appeared on coupons up to 4 times while other names did not appear.

He explained that those whose names appeared more than ones will only receive one coupon while the remaining coupons will be returned to chief Muhammed Lamin Baldeh of Lower Fulladu West District.

Chief of Lower Fulladu West District Muhammed Lamin Baldeh called on those whose names did not appear on the coupons to stay calm, saying every needy Gambian will receive the covid-19 food assistance.

Beneficiaries described the supply as vital and timely, with Numo Sabally commending government for the assistance.

Halimatou Ceesay, chairperson of Kerewan Samba Sira Village Development Committee welcomed the distribution, noting that the food aid will be used for its rightful purpose.
