As stakeholders in the tourism sector work to make Destination Gambia more attractive and appealing to tourists, more and more tourists continue to jet into the country as the 2025/26 winter season gets underway.

The latest to arrive in the Smiling Coast of Africa was a Corendon flight from Amsterdam, Netherlands with more Dutch tourists. The Gambia Tourism Board were at hand at the Banjul International Airport alongside cultural troupes to give the visiting guests a befitting welcome.

Speaking to journalists shortly on arrival, Mark, a Dutch tourist, speaks highly of the country’s peaceful atmosphere, the hospitable people and the vibe. “You have nice beaches, nice people, nice food, nice drinks.”

Mark, who is visiting The Gambia for the first time, says he hopes to enjoy his stay in the country.

Laine Sallah, Director Africa Adventure and agent for Corendon in Gambia, said this is Corendon’s third flight to The Gambia and will operate three flights.

“So Thursday, Tuesday and Saturdays. And every flight has about 145 passengers. So it's like almost 400 people every week.”

She revealed that they are expecting three flights a week from Netherlands from now till the middle of December.

“Then we will have five flights until Christmas, New Year. Then we go back to four flights in January until the end of the season.”

She expressed optimism that this year is going to be a nice season, and their guests are really going to enjoy their stay in the country.

“This is the first time that we are going to fly with five flights. But it's only for two weeks. Because Gambia is a wonderful country. And it's a nice country for visitors to see.”

She said they have a mixture of new and repeaters and that ‘there's quite some newcomers, but there's also quite some repeaters.’

“Apart from the Dutch, the Belgians that are coming with Corendon, they love to go and explore the country.”
