CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE ON THE ELECTION VICTORY OF MADAM XIOMARA CASTRO ZELEYA IN HONDURAS

Dec 3, 2021, 12:54 PM

The Hugo Chavez International Foundation for Peace, Friendship and Solidarity (HCIF-PFS) cordially congratulates Her Excellency Madam Xiomara Castro Zeleya upon her election to the highest office within the gift of the Honduran people.

She was voted alongside 128-member Congress (Parliament) and some 300 local government representatives.

Madam Castro Zeleya contested the Honduran presidential election under the banner of the Liberty and Refoundation Party (LIBRE). Her overwhelming choice by the electorate is a fitting culmination of her many years of steadfastness, dedication and patriotic zeal to rebrand the image of Honduras, which was tainted after the US backed military coup d’état of 28th June, 2009 against the legitimate and democratically-elected government, led by her husband, the constitutional President Manuel Zeleya.

Madam Castro Zeleya is the first Honduran woman to occupy the highest office in her homeland. We congratulate also the Liberty and Refoundation Party on its sweeping victory in the national elections. These decisive victories reflect the strong support and great hopes that Honduran voters have in the leadership, patriotic zeal and vision of President-elect, Madam Castro Zeleya.  The vote demonstrates also the Honduran people’s deep belief in Madam Castro Zeleya’s ability to address such issues as corruption, economic mismanagement, human rights’ abuses and poor infrastructures, which have engulfed Honduras in the last twelve (12) years of purposeless leadership.

We are greatly relieved that the elections were able to take place without major incidents of violence, and hope that the period of transition and the President-elect’s taking up office will remain similarly peaceful. The opportunities ahead for Honduras are immense.  We are confident that Madam Castro Zeleya will bring her valuable experience as President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of Honduras to bear as she leads her country to fulfill its promise.

Madam Xiomara Castro Zeleya is the wife of former President Manuel Zeleya, whose government was toppled by a civilian-military alliance in 2009.

We look forward to pay a visit to Honduras in the not too long future with the sole aim of opening a branch of the Foundation in the Central American country. We therefore, take this opportunity to offer the President-elect, our best wishes for a full and rewarding term in office and the assurance of our unclenched solidarity and understanding.

Finally, Daniel in the Holy Bible has returned to Honduras!
