The Coalition of The Gambia Environment Organisation (CGEO) recently conducted a day-long stakeholder’s consultative forum on the protection of Kotu Creek/Cycle Track as an Indigenous Community Conservation Area (ICCA) at Badala Park Hotel.

Saikou Janko, president of the Coalition of The Gambia Environment Organization (CGEO), in his remarks at the forum informed stakeholders that his organisation was created two years ago with the aim of restoring wetlands. He added that his organisation protected wetlands at Kotu Old Cycle Track while also intervening at Nyambai Forest Park.

He hailed the West African Birds Study Association (WABSA) for leading the process while also calling on Community Based Organisations (CBOs) in the country to join the CGEO crusade in protecting the environment.
