Boy,13, solicits assistance for overseas treatment

Mustapha Sowe, a 13-year-old resident of Jambanjelly in the Kombo South is seeking financial assistance to undergo overseas treatment.

The medical report obtained from the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) revealed that Mustapha Sowe was presented at the facility on the 30/01/2017 with complaints of recurrent pain when swallowing which has been ongoing for the past years.

The report further revealed that the boy has been given antibiotics on several occasions O/E and he was stable, not an obvious distress, not pale and afebrile, oral exams both tonsils are hyperemic ,and swollen with no exudate other systemic examinations are unremarkable throat swab only revealed normal flora isolated.

The assessment made by the medical experts is that Mustapha is suffering from Chronic tonsillitis and therefore recommends him to go for tonsillectomy, which is not currently available due to lack of materials.

Awa Saidy, mother of the 13-year boy is now soliciting support from government, NGOs to help her son go for overseas treatment.

Saidy said the sickness of her son is having a great impact on their family and that he could not grow normally.
