Boy, 16, seeks overseas treatment

Momodou Salieu Jallow, a 16-year old boy is seeking overseas treatment following his inability to move all his four limbs after falling on his head while doing gymnastic moves.

 

According to his medical report, Momodou Salieu was presented to the Neurosurgery Unit of the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) on the 4th of March 2022 with inability to move all his four LIMBS after falling on his head while doing gymnastic moves.

However, following examination conducted in him the report revealed that the patient was stable but has abdominal breathing.

"CNS examination further revealed that a conscious patient with a GCS of 15/15, RERL with myotome level of C5 and dermatome level C8/T1."

Meanwhile, CT scan has also revealed that a C- spine tear drop fracture has also occurred on his spine.

"We made an assessment of C-spine tear drop fracture with cord compression (ASIA-A) patient was admitted, put on a hard neck collar and on medical treatment, patient bleeds given heparin. We therefore recommend him undergo treatment abroad to that effect. " the report stated.

Buba Hydara, a friend called on the government and private sector to help his friend (payient), adding that going by what is written on his medical report,it is totally unsafe as he needs to undergo urgent surgery.
