This year's edition, which marks the 3rd one, was also meant to serve as a motivation to others to improve performance and better health outcomes.
The award categories include the Medical Doctor of the Year; Nurse Attendance of the Year; Theater of the Year; Public and Health Officer of the Year; Security Guard of the Year and Best Medical Record Clerk of the Year.
Other categories included the Pharmacy Staff of the Year, General Nurse of the Year and Best Midwife of the Year, among others.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Mamadi Cham, Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital revealed that the hospital is one of the most popular public hospitals and a preferred one among Gambian women, something he said, is due to the perceived quality of care and positive health outcomes with a conducive environment.
Dr. Cham revealed the Out Patient Department (OPD) attendance in 2025 registered a total of 44, 990, Accident and Emergency (A&E) attendance increased from 11, 656 (2024) to 15, 228 (2025) with 30.6%.
He added that In-patients increased from 4, 594 (2024) to 5042 (2025) with 9.8% adding that in 2025, the overall inpatient morality rate was 1.6%.
Dr Cham further applauded their sponsors who have stood by them since 2023.
Madam Clara Saine, Board member of the hospital said "the day is designed to acknowledge staff dedication, resilience and selfless services."
She noted that efficient delivery throughout 2025 was the result of the collective efforts of the team under the leadership of Dr Cham.
Delivering his vote of thanks, Dr Yusupha Touray, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, lauded officials at the hospital for their professionalism and services, reminding that the hospital is now well respected, especially amongst women.
This, he said shows the quality of service rendered at the facility.
He spoke about the gains registered in the country's health sector, further commending staff for their efforts.
