In staying true to its corporate social responsibility while sharing with its esteemed customers, APS Group on Tuesday launched its 2025 Ramadan ‘Iftar’ food distribution exercise at an event held at Brusubi roundtable.

The event, which drew a crowd (mainly passersby), was anchored on the spirit of sharing and caring with its customers, while also promoting the spirit of love. Subsequently, the event which has now become an annual tradition, will continue in major towns across the country in the coming weeks.

APS Group comprises three entities namely- APS International in the UK, responsible for remittance; APS Islamic Mirco Finance, which is responsible for banking services and APS Wallet.

Speaking to the journalists, Lamin Sanyang, managing director APS Islamic Micro Finance, underscored the importance of caring and sharing as Muslims especially during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

MD Sanyang revealed that at APS they believe that the best time to share is this time of the year, the Holy Month of Ramadan.

"It is not just to go and give them something at the middle of the day but at a time when their quest to eat is high."

To this end, he spoke about the rewards that one stands to get especially when one provides food for another to break his or her fast, hence they choose that time of the day to show love and share with the Muslims.

APS MD maintained that they are going to continue this food distribution exercise in different locations across the country in the coming days.

Mustapha Sanneh, a staff at APS Islamic Micro Finance Business Development Unit, first thanked God that they are able to come this far, recalling that this is the 5th year they are embarking on such an important philanthropic gesture.

"We also have desire to continue this exercise in years to come."

Thus, Sanneh revealed that the main idea behind this move is that APS Group of Companies missions is not only to receive money from people, but also to share with their esteemed customers.

That, he said, is the reason why they come out to show love to the people. He was, however, quick to state that it is not that these beneficiaries don’t have food, but that in one way or the other they are caught up on the way away from their homes.

"Even though, our gesture is not that much, but we are here to say thank you to people for their patronage. This year, we plan to tour major communities across the country."

Khadijatou Badjie, business development and marketing manager, APS Islamic Micro Finance, said APS is a Gambian company and the move is to acknowledge and appreciate their support these past years.

She thus thanked people for their patronage, reminding that this year marks the fifth edition, adding that they also extend similar gesture to the Christian community through the Christian Council during their major fests.

To this end, Badjie spoke of the company’s commitment to staying true to its corporate social responsibility, while also giving back to the community.
