The foundation in the recent past has been key in supporting needy households as part of their plans to reach out to the four corners of the country. The items, worth 30,000 thousand dalasis, was part of the foundation’s corporate social responsibility.
At the presentation, Yusuf Jawara, chairperson of the Abubacarr Jawara’s Foundation, reminded that the foundation is a charity and not-for-profit organisation registered in The Gambia.
The foundation, he went on, is committed to mitigating and eradicating poverty and suffering of people and to promote community integration and unification through providing financial support to households and communities across the country.
"As a charitable foundation, we believe charity is a supreme virtue and a great channel through which Allah shower his blessings and mercy to His servants." he said.
He explained that to present 20,000 bags of rice and 10,000 bags of sugar to the people of this country is part of their efforts to contribute to the socio-economic development and to attain the sustainable development goals of the country.
“As a foundation, we are committed to our objective in uplifting the status and living conditions of the financially disadvantaged people by helping to provide their basic necessities.”
The foundation, he added, has being and with the help of Allah would continue to help people of the country at no cost, saying the day’s distribution exercise is in respond to their annual Ramadan food distribution.
Basamba Drammeh, a member of the foundation, recalled that this is their second Ramadan food distribution to the people of the country especially the needy.
He acknowledged the support rendered to his foundation by the CEO of GACH Global Company, Dr Abubakary Jawara who is also the president of the foundation for creating for the foresight.
Drammeh disclosed that over the past years the foundation has been very helpful to the people of this country especially to the needy and the vulnerable people.
Sheikh Amma Jaiteh, an Islamic scholar, commended the foundation for their support to the local people especially the needy families.
Kaddy Jallow-Manjang, a beneficiary, equally thanked the foundation for the gesture, which she described, would go a long way in addressing their challenges.
