Mam Tut Wadda, who is facing criminal charges including obtaining money by false pretense was granted bail due to her complicated pregnancy. According to her, she has been bleeding and facing some complications as her baby was not properly placed thus she needed proper medical attention.
The accused is said to have defrauded 14 individuals and was remanded at the Mile 2 Prison.
“I am pleading with the court to allow me to get proper medical and attention,” she told the court. “I have been bleeding since the day I was remanded and according to the doctor, I am facing some pregnancy complications.”
Magistrate Sallah Mbaye, citing section 218(3) of the Children’s Act, summoned the doctor in court in order to prove the authenticity of the document brought by the accused.
After the doctor was questioned by the magistrate, she ordered for another test to be conducted together with the police and it was proven that the accused was pregnant.
Magistrate Isatou Sallah Mbaye subsequently granted her bail for the best interest of the child which she said was paramount under Section 3 of the Children’s Act.
