The police witness Alieu Jallow said they found behind the counter a bag which had D200 notes, some D100 notes, three mobile phones and a staff ID.
He said they also found inside the toilet another brown side-bag (cross-bag) which was open and had 2 spanners and a face mask but there was no money.
Alieu Jallow, who said he was stationed at the Serekunda West Police Station, recounted how he got knowledge of the incident. He said when he got to the station that day, he was informed about a man who stabbed a lady at Westfield, adding that he visited the crime scene with a CID officer and found out that the scene was preserved by the Police Intervention Units (PIU) officers.
It would be recalled that the accused, Arona Tine, was charged with the murder of one Fatoumatta Kargbo, a Westfield Forex Bureau cashier.
The police witness said that upon their arrival at the crime scene, they also found the door of the bureau locked and the alleged knife the accused used was recovered by the PIU officers.
He further narrated that he disclosed his identity as a police officer and asked those PIU officers to unlock the door so that he could go inside and see because Westfield was under his jurisdiction.
He said he was granted permission by Officer Lamin B. Sarr (PW5) who led the PIU officers in preserving the crime scene, adding that the door was opened and they entered along with the owner of the Forex Bureau.
When they got inside the bureau, the witness said, they could see stains of blood all over the place up to the toilet.
Another police witness, Lamin B. Sarr, who is the fourth prosecution witness, also testified that when he received a call that there was a stabbing incident at Westfield, he dispatched a team to the crime scene.
He said they found a crowd at the scene and decided to preserve the place, adding that while entering the bureau, they found the accused Arona Tine lying down and bleeding from his throat.
The witness, Lamin B. Sarr, said his team provided first aid for the accused and then used his cloth to wrap around his throat before they took him and boarded their police vehicle and rushed him to the Serekunda hospital.
The case was adjourned until 8 July 2024.
