Vice President Jallow delivered this new call last Thursday at the ongoing 78th United Nations General Assembly at the high-level segment of the UN General Assembly in New York. The high-level segment ended on Tuesday 26 September.
For the fifth consecutive time in the last five years, The Gambia has urged the U.S. in the UN General Assembly to lift the blockade on Cuba, which has lasted for too long.
Furthermore, in the last five years, The Gambia has raised its voice every year at the United Nations demanding an end to the economic, commercial and financial siege imposed on the Caribbean Island for more than six decades.
Furthermore, a similar call was made by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mamadou Tangara, in his speech at the recently held G-77 and China Summit in Havana, where he also congratulated the Cuban Medical Brigades (BMC) for their commendable work of healing and saving lives in all corners of the planet, including the darkest, paraphrasing the historical leader Fidel Castro.
