While welcoming the young and passionate aspiring scholars for attaining a “lifetime opportunity” out of the hundreds or even thousands of applicants, he hailed their perseverance.
“The University of the Gambia will challenge you and people will inspire you to create an indelible mark throughout your academic career,” he said.
“The UTG is not an ivory tower; it should be the conscience of the nation,” he stressed. “Through its triple mandate, it shall continue to generate knowledge, apply knowledge and transmit knowledge. The UTG will continue to produce credible graduates for the country’s workforce.
“It will continue to encourage its students to actively engage in campus politics and constructive engagements with the University Authorities towards the provision of a good learning environment free from violence and disorderliness.”
In the same vein, as he bade them all great success in their studies as the students rigorous lectures begin, Manjang urged the young students to be “ambassadors of change” and always promote peace, tolerance, diversity, and inclusion for the common good. “I therefore thank you all and wish you nothing but great success,” he concluded.
