As anticipation builds for the upcoming OIC Summit, the General Transport Union of The Gambia (GTU) issues a timely reminder to all road users, with a special emphasis on drivers, to conscientiously adhere to traffic rules and regulations throughout the duration of the summit.

In a statement released today, the Executive Committee of the GTU underscores the importance of upholding road safety standards and maintaining the country's esteemed reputation as the "smiling coast of Africa." Drivers are urged to continue demonstrating exemplary hospitality and to serve as ambassadors, reflecting positively on the nation's image.

Traffic forecasts and analyses indicate a projected increase in the volume of vehicles and overall traffic flow during the summit period. Consequently, the GTU urges drivers to exhibit heightened professionalism, exercise caution, and cooperate with security directives, including any necessary diversions implemented during the event.

Expressing optimism for heightened professionalism within the transportation sector, the GTU calls upon drivers and industry stakeholders to elevate standards and proudly represent the nation on the global stage, particularly during the auspicious OIC summit.

The General Transport Union of The Gambia extends its best wishes for a successful and productive OIC summit in the Gambia, emphasizing the collective responsibility of all stakeholders in ensuring a safe and seamless transportation experience throughout the event.
