The city of Touba will host the vote for the presidential election in February 2024. The announcement was made by the spokesperson for the Khalif General of the Mourides, Serigne Bassirou Abdou Khadre Mbacké during his press statement. However, the religious guide affirms that it will also be the last one to be held in the holy city.

He explains: “Serigne Mountakha had just asked that the elections take place outside Touba. I went to present the Khalifa's vision, with supporting documents, to the head of State who transferred the file to the Ministry of the Interior. The letter indicated that the time was short enough to resume the tedious work on the electoral lists. Consequently, voting can be done at the usual places,” said Serigne Bassirou Mbacké Abdou Khadre.

Sheikh Bass also took the opportunity to deliver the Khalif's other message. Indeed, the Khalif has clearly chosen not to receive any candidate in view of the next presidential election. “In his life, he had never thought that he would be so close to politicians. He asks, from now on and for the future, that all politicians refrain from disturbing him.
