The development is in respect of the fact that the world has been going digital, and to make it  easier carrying out payment.

The event, organised by SSHFC and held at the Ocean Bay Hotel on Thursday 16 January 2025, brought participants from all sectors of development to familiarise themselves with the new innovation that the SSHFC  has introduced.

Speaking at the official opening ceremony of the system launch, MD Malang Saloum said the event  marked a significant milestone in the journey of the Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation.

“Today, we are gathered to introduce and familiarize ourselves with the new Social Security Management Information System, or SSMIS,” he stated.

According to Mr Saloum, the introduction of the new system  is a testament of their continued commitment to modernising and enhancing their services, ensuring that they are equipped to meet the evolving needs of their clients, as well as to improve operational efficiency.

“This system represents a key step forward in streamlining processes, enabling faster and more accurate service delivery, and fostering greater transparency and accountability in the way we serve our beneficiaries and stakeholders,” he told the participants. “We deeply value the partnership and collaboration we share with each of you.”

He added that the involvement of stakeholders and supporters is critical in ensuring the successful implementation and adoption of the SSMIS.

“Today’s session is designed not only to help you better understand the features of the system, but also to equip you with the necessary skills to navigate and make the most of its capabilities,” he explained. “We are confident that, with your active engagement, we will be able to fully leverage this system to the benefit of all.”

He further urged: “As we move forward with this training, I encourage you to ask questions, share your insights, and engage with the trainers. This is a collective effort, and together, we will ensure that the SSMIS becomes a powerful tool for improving social security and housing finance services across the board.

“Once again, thank you for your participation and continued support. I look forward to a productive session, and to the positive impact the SSMIS will have in transforming the way we serve and interact with you.”

According to him, the system has a lot of benefits such that from the comfort of offices or homes, members can register their businesses, and employees, with the Corporation online, can make their contribution or payments, view statements of account, automate the process of submitting, processing, and tracking claims, as well as make complaints and manage their interactions with the Corporation.

MD Saloum further thanked the SSHFC board, and also recognised the efforts of his predecessor, Abdoulie Tambedou,  during whose tenure the project started. He also commended the Gambia Government for creating an enabling environment for all to progress.
