If President Adama Barrow accepts her appointment, she will become the first female to serve in this role. Her nomination was part of a recent reshuffle of ambassadors announced by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye during a Council of Ministers meeting in Dakar.
Madame SY succeeds Monsieur Bassirou SENE, who is retiring and will receive his pension.
Previously, SY served as a principal adviser at the foreign ministry in Dakar and was most recently the Senegalese Ambassador to Spain.
