The government early this month announced a general price reduction on basic and essential commodities including foodstuffs. Rental payments for property have also been reduced substantially.

Recently 107 shopkeepers across the country were arrested for not respecting or adhering to government’s new reduction of prices.
Senegal’s Ministry of Trade has employed 1,000 youths to monitor prices, and toll numbers have been introduced to report business people who fail to respect or adhere to the new prices.
