The Public Treasury's strategic offices of Senegal were burglarised yesterday March 6, resulting in the theft of valuable financial data and computers, with no obvious traces of the crime at the time of discovery.

According to information by L’Observateur in its edition of Thursday 6 March, the criminals targeted the second floor of the IT Department, a sensitive sector where important financial data is stored.

According to the newspaper of the Futurs Médias Group, the intruders entered the premises through doors that were left ajar leading to the balcony, a security breach that allowed them to access computers directly connected to the server of the General Directorate, where all the financial information of the Public Treasury is recorded.

Several valuable objects were taken, including computers.

Another disturbing element noted by the newspaper was that no obvious traces of a break-in were found when the police arrived.  The daily also highlights "an intriguing coincidence between this burglary and the recent death of the Accountant General.

As part of the investigation, two people on duty that night were summoned by the Urban Security: the security guard J. M. Niakh and a police officer from the Mobile Intervention Group (GMI), A. Goudiaby.

The public prosecutor, who was given the case, ordered investigations to clarify the circumstances of this theft.
