Senegal’s Electoral body scrutinises more candidates

On January 3, 2024, the Commission appointed by the Constitutional Council continued the examination of the sponsorship necessary for candidacies in the presidential election. The order of verification, established by drawing lots, potentially favored the first candidates examined by minimising the risk of duplicates.

During this session, 20 application files were examined by the commission and they included: Mouhamadou Lamine Gueye (Independent Candidate): File invalidated, file unusable.

Aliou Lame (Together for Real Change – EPVC): Application invalidated for insufficient sponsorship.

Adama Faye (Coalition Adama President): Technical problems with the USB key, capacity limit exceeded.

Mouhamadou Madana Kane (Dundu): Inoperable USB key, application invalidated.

Al Housseynou Ba (African Forces for Renaissance Freedom and Unity – FARLU): Incomplete file and insufficient number of sponsors.

Mamadou Lamine Diallo (MLD Tekki 2024): Waiting for sponsors to be regularized.

Mahamad Boun Abdallah Dionne (Dionne 2024): File examined, awaiting regularization.

Aliou Camara (Doctor Aliou Camara 2024 Jappo Dekal Yakkark – DAK): More than 39,000 external duplicates, application not validated.

Karim Meissa Wade (Karim 2024): Use of MP sponsorships, avoiding duplication.

Babacar Diop (Coalition Babacar Alternative 2024): 13,410 external duplicates, application invalidated.

Elhadji Ibrahima Sall (Demain la République): Technical problems with the USB key.

Habib Sy (Party of Hope and Modernity/Yakar U Rew Mi): Validated thanks to the use of sponsorships of deputies.

Elhadji Malick Gakou (Coalition Gackou 2024): 48 hours to complete 3449 sponsorships.

Dad Momar Ngom (Joyanti 2024): Invalidated, insufficient number of sponsors and excess of duplicates. Thione Niang (Coalition Jeuf A.K. Thione Niang): USB key not usable, application invalidated.

Aly Ngouille Ndiaye (Aly Ngouille Coalition 2024): Awaiting validation of additional sponsors.

Serigne Guèye Diop (Party of the Renaissance of the Ethics of Citizenship, Equity, Patriotism and Transparency – PRECEPT): Task to regularize 27,734 external duplicates.

Assane Ka (Supporters of New Élan – PANEL): Rejected, lack of certificate of payment of deposit.

Mamadou Diop (And Jef/PADS): 33,674 external duplicates, sponsorship invalidated.

Souleymane Ndéné Ndiaye (National Union for the People – UNP/Bokk Jemu): Waiting for the regularization of more than 20,000 sponsor-voters.
