Nov 27, 2024, 10:20 AM

Two hundred and ten packets of pure cocaine weighing a total of 235 kgs were seized by agents of the Koungheul Customs Mobile Brigade, Kaffrine subdivision, Central customs region. "The tests carried out by the drug detection kits made available to customs units were confirmed by the National Laboratory of Technical and Scientific Police. The total counter value of the drugs is estimated at 18,800,000,000 CFA francs.

This seizure follows the targeting of a single-cabin L200 pick-up from a neighboring country. A thorough inspection of the vehicle's body revealed a hiding place between the chassis and the dump body in which the seized packets of drugs were hidden," a customs press release said. The driver, a foreign national, was arrested. The investigation is ongoing.

The press release recalls that customs units seized, between March and November 2024, a total of 2,114 kgs of cocaine on the Dakar - Kidira corridor, representing, in counter value, on the illicit market, more than 169 billion CFA francs.

Furthermore, the Customs Administration reaffirms its determination to combat transnational organised crime (TOC), in particular international drug trafficking.
