The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has ended its association with Pape Thiaw, who is now the former head coach of the Senegal national team, the Lions.

Following an emergency meeting held on Saturday, July 11, the FSF Executive Committee approved the termination of Thiaw’s contract, just over a week after Senegal’s elimination from the FIFA World Cup. The entire technical staff has also been dismissed.

In a statement read by the head of the FSF Communications Commission, the federation announced that it had decided to begin the formal process of ending the duties of Pape Bouna Thiaw and all members of the national team’s technical staff.

According to the Executive Committee, the decision followed an assessment of Senegal’s performance at the World Cup and the future prospects of the national team. The federation said the move was made in the best interests of Senegalese football.

The FSF has also mandated its president, Abdoulaye Fall, to officially inform the relevant authorities, namely the Government of Senegal, and to formally notify Pape Thiaw of the decision.
