Seedy S.K. Njie made the reaffirmation on Tuesday when he received in person the 2022 African Lawmaker of the Year in Good Governance award at the 8thedition of the African Leadership Magazine Summit held at the Dorchester Hotel in London, UK.
The award had been conferred on the Gambian politician and lawmaker a few months ago for his leadership and performance in governance.
The African Leadership Magazine hailed for his unflinching service to Gambians and beyond, has positively impacted society and also led to massive progress.
Deputy Speaker Njie is also praised for his efforts in the preservation and strengthening of parliamentary democracy and good governance.
The tactical Gambian politician appreciated the recognition, saying: “I share this recognition with my fellow parliamentarians, government officials and the citizens, who have entrusted me with the responsibility of representing their voices and advocating for their interests.”
He added: “I assure my commitment to continue serving with utmost dedication and integrity, striving to make a positive impact and bring about meaningful change in The Gambia.”
Alongside receiving the award, Njie also participated as a speaker in the panel session, which was held on the theme ‘Galvanising Africa's Political Leadership for Global Investments, Partnerships and Collaborations’ moderated by Alastair Masser, director at Trafalgar Strategy London.
Other speakers were Baroness Sandy Verma, member at the UK House of Lords; Cllr. Jonathan FonatiKoffa, deputy speaker at Liberia’s House of Representatives; Wilber KhasilwaOttichilo, governor of Vihigacounty in Kenya; Rosalyn Henderson-Myers, South Carolina House of Representatives, USA.
