Search in Senegalese Liberty 6 Prison turns violent

The Liberty 6 penal camp was the scene of a mutiny this Wednesday as a room search session turned into a confrontation between inmates and prison guards.

The tension was high there as tear gas grenades and shots were fired, a prisoner confided to Seneweb.

“We invite the Minister of Justice to come and resolve the situation. The prison guards are searching our rooms and burning our mattresses,” alerts our interlocutor.

Contacted by Seneweb, a source close to the Prison Administration declared that Indian hemp was hidden in mattresses which were burned.
