In the end, Amadou Bâ prime minister of Senegal was chosen. He will officially be the candidate of the Benno Bok Yakaar Coalition for the 25th February 2024 presidential election. Macky Sall officially made the announcement on Saturday.
"We have retained Mr. Amadou Bâ, current Prime Minister, as the candidate of Benno Bok Yakaar and the great presidential majority for the presidential election of February 2024," announced Moustapha Niass, who read the statement of Macky Sall whose voice is hoarse.
"Mr. Amadou Bâ could be a unifying leader within his party, the coalition and beyond. He also knows very well the emerging Senegal plan to ensure the continuation of the economic, social and environmental policies of the PSE," adds the former president of the National Assembly. He asks the leaders, officials, activists and supporters of the coalition to support this candidacy.
Amadou Bâ, who is the current Prime Minister of Senegal, was Director General of Taxes and Domains, Minister of Economy and Finance and also Minister of Foreign Affairs.
[Aliou Ngouille Ndiaye Senegalese minister of Agriculture who was among the 12 aspirants has resigned from the Cabinet, he told RFM on Saturday.
He wants to stand as independent candidate.
