Russia to sign military agreements with Senegal, others

Nov 7, 2023, 11:17 AM

Russia will sign military agreements with Senegal and Sao Tome and Principe, according to TASS.

The head of the Russian government, Mikhail Mishustin, signed a decree approving draft agreements on Russia’s military cooperation with Senegal, as well as Sao Tome and Principe.

“To approve the draft Agreement on military cooperation between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Senegal, submitted by the Russian Ministry of Defense, adopted by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant federal executive authorities,” the message says.

Another order mentions a draft agreement with Sao Tome and Principe.

In 2009, 300 military personnel served in the Sao Tome and Principe Armed Forces.

They will work to ensuring the participation of a delegation from the Russian Federation in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit to be held in San Francisco in November. At the same time, a State Department representative noted that “participation in APEC in 2023 will occur in accordance with US legislation and regulations, including sanctions.”

“The United States takes seriously its responsibility to host the APEC Summit in 2023.”

Previously official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova described it as “flawed” US political line within APEC.
