The paper, published on Academia is masterminded by eminent writer, scholar and sustainable development advocate Modou Lamin 'Age-Almusaf' Sowe.
“This research paper explores the landscape of Gambian literature and the contributions of young Gambian writers to this burgeoning literary scene,” Sowe said, adding that the paper analyses the socio-political context of The Gambia, providing a background to understand the current cultural and creative renaissance unfolding in the country.
He added: "It also highlights the prominent themes and genres that characterise Gambian literature, and showcases the diverse voices and perspectives that young Gambian writers bring to the table.
“Through an analysis of selected works and interviews with key literary figures, this paper aims to shed light on the evolution of Gambian literature and the critical role that young Gambian writers play in shaping the future of literary expression in the country.”
Amongst people engaged by Modou Lamin and interviewed during his research are some of the young voices sat the forefront of the domain. Currently, such are Omar Champion Cham, Cherno Gaye, Saffiatou Joof, Aisha Jawara, Talibe Hydara, Adam Nyang, Mentor Boye, Kebba Mbye, Jainaba Touray, Fatoumatta A. Jallow and Ebrima B. Sawaneh.
