Prosecutor Sanneh stated before Justice Janneh-Njie of the High Court at Kanifing that since the daughter of the accused is one of the sureties, she should also be arrested. He posited that his junior told him that there was a bench warrant to arrest the accused or his sureties. “I spoke to the daughter of the accused and asked her what efforts are made for her father to appear in court, but said her father would come. He is absent again,” he told the court.
The prosecution had called all their witnesses who testified against the accused and closed their case months ago. It is now the turn of the accused to open his defence to convince the court that the allegation proffered against him has not been proven by the prosecution. But he is yet to muster courage to do so, since he is nowhere to be found.
The 18th July, 2022, is the return date for the prosecution to either bring the accused or his sureties to court.
