The suspect, who turned himself in at Banjul Terminal Police Station, claimed he confronted and assaulted the victim when he was seen attempting to break into his truck, which contained D17,000. During the altercation, the victim lost consciousness and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
On 19th November, the Crime Scene and forensic experts visited the scene to reconstruct the incident. Initial observations revealed a bruise with bloodstains on the back of the deceased’s head.
The suspect has been charged with murder and remains in custody. The deceased’s body has been evacuated to the EFSTH Hospital pending post-mortem to confirm the cause of death.
