Police detain Sainabou upon return from Senegal

Sainabou Mbaye, a lady battling with her ex-husband in court for an alleged rape case was on Saturday detained by the police after her  return into the country was expedited by the Gambia police through the intervention of Interpol and with support from Senegal.

She was expedited into the country after a child involving in the alleged rape case was pronounced dead after he was allegedly locked in a car for several hours in Senegal.

She may be charged with manslaughter and conspiracy to commit a felony after foul play was suspected in the death of Muhammed. 

On Saturday, the Gambia Police Force (GPF) announced the expedition of Sainabou Mbaye and deceased Muhammad into the country for further investigation of alleged killing and are kept in police custody.

The Police stated that the bail granted to Cherno Mbaye and Kibily Dambally (both suspects) have been revoked as investigation intensifies and are under police custody.

GPF re-assured the public that all necessary measures will be taken to diligently investigate the incident preceding the death of the child and appropriate actions shall follow. 

"In this regard, members of the public are strictly warned to desist from taking the law into their own hands or interfering with processes for any reason. Such instances will not be tolerated by any means, as the peace and tranquility of the country will never be compromised," Police stated.
