Police arrest alleged ‘notorious fraudster’

The Police have arrested Alieu Ceesay, a habitual offender known for dealing in stolen phones and impersonation, following investigations into a case of theft and personation in Jarra Soma, on 16th November 2024.

Ceesay was found to be actively involved in purchasing stolen phones from thieves and facilitating their sale to potential buyers. Further investigations revealed that he had been impersonating a police officer to deceive victims into providing their phone passwords.

A review of phone records linked Ceesay to several stolen devices, including an iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 11 Pro Max, and iPhone XR, all of which were recovered during the operation, along with a basic phone used to manipulate SIM cards.

The Gambia Police Force urges the public to remain vigilant, safeguard their property, and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
