The defense sought to tender an audio conversation between Mama Jabbi and first accused Ousainou Bojang, recorded in Mandinka. As required, it had earlier been transcribed into English for court use.
However, the prosecution objected to its submission after been served.
DPP Yusuf argued that the transcription improperly included specifications identifying who was speaking, even though the original Mandinka audio does not label the speakers. He insisted the transcription must strictly reflect the audio without any additions.
Counsel Jeng maintained that Mama Jabbi mentions Ousainou’s name multiple times during the conversation.
Counsel Sillah added that witness testimony had already confirmed that the conversation was between Mama Jabbi and Ousainou.
Justice Jaiteh ruled that the DPP’s objection was valid. He ordered the transcription to be sent back to the court transcriber to remove all speaker identifications and any elements not present in the original audio, ensuring a strict verbatim record.
The case was adjourned until 2nd December 2025.
