Alasana Justice Jallow, the Network’s CEO describes Ambassador Sey as an "Innovative and Charismatic leader.
“He is a sharp diplomat with extensive knowledge and expertise in Peace and Security matters. He is very suitable for the position. He has a fundamental understanding on Diplomacy, International Relations, and Social and Cultural Issues," he said of Mr Sy.
The ambassador will lead a Board that constitutes distinct personalities.
The principal function of the Board is to provide strategic leadership and support for Peace Network in the drive to realise the vision of The Institute.
Brief Bio
Essa Bokarr Sey hails from Kuntaya. He attended Armitage Senior Secondary School. Upon completion of his Senior Secondary Education, he joined The Gambia Gendarmerie. After his training, he joined the Gambia College linguistic pilot programme sponsored by the French Government. He was chosen to be part of the honored students to study linguistics in Bassoon, France.
When he returned from his studies, he was posted to Tahir High School to teach…. He was later called and offered the job of protocol welfare officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He went to Sierra Leone to further his education at the Institute of Public Administration. He came back and continued to serve until the government changed in 1994.
In 1998, he was posted in the United Nations Mission where Gambia was a non-permanent member of the Security Council. He later became the Gambia Ambassador to the United States in 1999. He was later posted to France as Gambian Ambassador. Whilst in France, he had concurrent accreditation to Russia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Switzerland and Portugal and he was a permanent member of Gambia to the UNESCO. He served in Taiwan as an Ambassador with concurrent accreditation to the Philippines and Indonesia. From Taiwan, he was transferred to Washington DC as Ambassador with concurrent accreditation to Venezuela, Cuba, Brazil, Canada, and Mexico in 2003. It was During Ambassador Sey's time that Gambia Joined the Africa Growth Opportunity Act.
After his diplomatic service, he worked at the Bank of America and the United States Ministry of Defense. He came back to The Gambia and served as the PRO for OIC. He is currently the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and the security coordinator locally and internationally at the OIC for the organisation of the summit. He is a visiting speaker to public and Private institutions and Organizations in The Gambia and beyond. Eg. University of Louisville,

Ambassador Sey is a prolific writer with numerous publications. He is part of the prominent Gambian writers. He is an inspirational speaker with several disciples around the world.
