Ousainou Bojang, the alleged PIU shooter, was instructed in court before Justice E. Jaiteh to wear the shoe he was alleged to have worn during the Sukuta Jabang Traffic Lights shooting.

When he attempted to wear it, his feet could not fit into the shoes. He was asked by the defence counsel L.J. Darboe whether the shoes belonged to him but he told the court the shoes belonged to his brother, Famara Bojang.

Through the court’s observations, Justice Jaiteh stated that the shoes presented by the State as exhibit P26 did not fit the feet of the accused.

The accused, Ousainou, said when the team of investigators visited his house in Brufut for the first time, they took his shoes and in the second visit, they took his brother’s shoes.

The alleged PIU shooter also mentioned in his testimony that the Inspector General of Police had told him to test those shoes, which he said he did, and that the IGP found out that the shoes were not his size.

It would be recalled that the fifth prosecution witness, Momodou Sowe of the Anti-Crime Unit, confirmed to the court that a team of investigators recovered canvas shoes in Ousainou Bojang’s room in Brufut.

Commissioner Momodou Sowe testified that the alleged PIU shooter led them to recover the clothes he wore during the shooting of the police officers and that he was wearing desert combat boots subsequently recovered by the investigators.

Also the sixth prosecuting witness, Ebou Sowe, disclosed in court that Ousainou Bojang led them to discover white canvas shoes.

Detective Sowe said that further interrogation was conducted based on emphasis on the white canvas shoes discovered in the accused’s house. Those shoes, he added, were “so clean” that the investigators suspected it could not have been the exact shoes he wore.

“These interrogations were completed and the accused confirmed to have worn combat boots, and about 14:00hrs the suspect voluntarily led investigators to Brufut at their family house where the combat boots were recovered under their veranda after he had identified and confirmed to the investigators the combat boots he was wearing,” Sowe testified.

The case continues on 13 January 2025.
