The NPP noted that the decision by UDP delegates underscores the vibrancy of The Gambia’s democratic culture. “Your election is a clear indication of the confidence and trust that the delegates and membership of your party continue to place in your leadership,” the statement reads.
Reaffirming its commitment to democratic values, the NPP emphasised that political pluralism, tolerance, and mutual respect are the foundations upon which the country’s democracy must continue to thrive. The party pledged to work with Darboe and all other political actors in advancing national unity and safeguarding democratic gains.
The ruling party also commended the UDP for the orderly conduct of its selection process, describing it as another milestone in consolidating democratic culture in The Gambia.
“May this democratic exercise continue to strengthen our unity of purpose as Gambians, as we strive together for peace, stability, and sustainable development,” the NPP message concluded.
